IV news:
This year’s General Assembly of the International Association for Christian Education (IV) will take place from 29 November to 1 December 2024 in Bratislava, Slovakia. It will be hosted by the Association of Evangelical Schools in Slovakia (AESS), whose President, Marián Damankos, is also a member of the IV Board. He also heads the Protestant grammar school in Prešov in eastern Slovakia. In addition to the statutory tasks of the General Assembly, there will be a study day on the topic of ‘Protestant profile and new forms of learning – Christian schools in balance between tradition and innovation’. Using the example of the current – and politically controversial – curriculum reform in Slovakia, the role of Christian schools in such reform developments will be examined, and the relationship between their profile and social function will be discussed. The conference is also open to interested parties not belonging to a member organisation of IV.
